PNG vs JPG vs WebP: Which Image Format Should You Use?

JPG (JPEG) is best for photographs: small files with acceptable quality loss. PNG is better for graphics with sharp edges, text, or transparency.

WebP usually beats both for web delivery—smaller files at similar visual quality—and is supported in all modern browsers.
