How PDF merging works here
FreeTools loads a lightweight PDF library in your browser. Each file is read locally, pages are copied into a new document in the order you choose, and the result is saved to your downloads folder. There is no cloud queue and no temporary storage on our servers.
This approach is ideal for combining scanned receipts, contract appendices, or homework packets without sending sensitive pages to a third-party website. For more edits, try Split PDF or Compress PDF next.
Why use FreeTools?
Unlike many online utilities, FreeTools processes your files in the browser using modern Web APIs and WASM libraries. That means faster results on your machine, no waiting for uploads, and a clear privacy story: we never see your documents or photos. No account is required — open the page, drop a file, download the result.
FAQ
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?+
No. FreeTools merges PDFs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your files never leave your device.
Is there a file size or page limit?+
Limits depend on your device memory. Typical laptop browsers handle dozens of pages without issue. Very large scanned PDFs may be slower.
Can I reorder files before merging?+
Yes. Use the up/down controls on each file in the list before clicking Merge PDFs.
What about password-protected PDFs?+
Encrypted PDFs usually need to be unlocked first. Remove the password in a desktop reader, then merge.
